PAL OR MULTISYSTEM TV is required to watch PAL DVDs. This unit does not have a built in NTSC (American)TV tuner, an outside source such as cable box or sattelite receiver is required if you want to record from TV. Recording - Record your favorite shows onto DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM DVD discs. panasonic is also compatible with DVD+R Double layer media and provides up to 14 hours of media recording. This recorder will record PAL to PAL and NTSC to NTSC, in other words if you provide PAL signal it will record in PAL format an if you provide NTSC signal it will record NTSC format.
