Toshiba SD-780K HDMI 1080i Upconversion Code Free DVD Player

Plays Any DVD From Any Country Anywhere!
Toshiba's slim, affordable SD-780 HDMI DVD player features 110/220v PAL/NTSC high-end progressive-scan component-video outputs and built-in decoding for MP3 music files, as well as JPEG image CD playback so you can enjoy digital slideshows right in the living room. It also converts any-region-encoded PAL-formatted discs (the standard in Europe) for viewing on standard NTSC televisions used in North America. Or North American DVDs for viewing on Europaen/Asian PAL/SECAM TVs.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface):
High Definition Multimedia Interface is the next generation of DVI. It includes the DVI digital video signal, and multi-channel digital audio signals on a single cable. Most Toshiba Integrated HD and HD Monitor models include HDMI.
Benefit: HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video connection. HDMI provides the best interface between a DVD player and compatible products, such as a digital television (DTV). When matched with a compatible TV, this single interconnecting cable combines: Multi-channel audio, uncompressed digital video, intercommunication between devices and simple control Protocols. This single cable connection ensures that all signals remain in their pure digital form and secure by use of High Definition Copy Protection (HDCP) regardless of signal output resolution. The SD770 also has component, S-Video and RCA-video connections if you don't have an HDMI connection on your television.
HDMI Video Upconversion - 720p/1080i:
HDMI can support uncompressed digital video up to HDTV resolution. Thus the player makes use of this conduit by up-converting the standard DVD picture resolution of 720p or 1080i. This makes a DVD player with an HDMI connection the perfect match for today's digital televisions. And because this conversion is performed in the player, the signal remains free frome excessive digital to analog artifacts.
DivX® is one of the world's most popular high-compression MPEG-4 video technology, with DivX® files available on PCs and networks worldwide. Toshiba SD-780 plays all versions of DivX® video (including DivX® 6) with standard playback of DivX® media files.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the SD-780 stands ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
The SD-780 also performs 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
The player will play JPEG images one by one automatically, letting you zoom in, rotate, or flip the picture vertically or horizontally. For MP3 playback, the player offers track time display, album and track selection, and repeat (disc/album/track). It supports nested directory levels up to eight levels, as well as a total of 32 albums and 500 different tracks.
A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA and Coaxial ) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.
Playback options include disc resume, which lets you pick-up where you left off on your five most recently viewed DVDs (not applicable for MP3 or JPEG CDs), enhanced parental control (with 80-disc lockout), and picture zoom for magnification of select images.

Digital Picture Zoom
Benefit:This interactive DVD feature allows you to select an area of the picture you want to zoom in on and magnify it. Enhanced digital processing during moving video or freeze-frame playback produces superior color fidelity and resolution, even when you’re zoomed in. Also can be used to expand letterbox-only films to increase the viewable area on-screen.
Screen Saver
Benefit: The player can be set to automatically go into a screen saver mode after several minutes of inactivity. While in this mode, the Toshiba DVD logo appears and "ping-pongs" across the screen. Many movies will display the main movie menu indefinitely after the movie has ended. If left onscreen for a prolonged period, burn-in on the TV screen may result without this feature.
Jackpacks
ColorStream Pro® Component Video Output
Benefit: These outputs allow the video signal to be sent from the DVD player to a component video equipped interlaced or progressive scan TV. When this connection is utilized with today's HD-compatible sets, typical NTSC artifacts-like video noise, dot crawl, and flicker-are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity.
