Digital 8: Sony has created Digital8 to provide a link between your memories and the advances of today's digital technology. As Digital8 uses the same compression and editing protocols as DV, and is fully compatible with existing 8mm tape formats, you are able to play and record using readily available 8mm tapes while having all the advancements of digital technology at your disposal.

2.5" LCD Monitor: Lets you comfortably view your shot, from virtually any angle. Swivel function (270 degrees rotation) allows you to see your subjects and your shot at the same time, from virtually any angle. Mirror function allows subjects to see themselves in LCD while you watch them in viewfinder.

20x Optical / 700x Digital Zoom: The powerful optical zoom uses physical manipulation of the lens’ focal length to put you a massive 20x closer to your subject than when shooting in the wide angle position, with no loss of image quality. Additional digital zoom then lets you increase what you’re able to see by enlarging the image a further 28x on the CCD. Includes a choice of 2 enlargement ratios.

USB Streaming (Webcam)

i.Link (DV - in/out): Allows high speed, bi-directional digital exchange between any two devices equipped with i.LINK interfaces. Sony’s i.LINK camcorders provide simple, reliable and high-speed connection to editing equipment, capture cards, PCs and printers. Digital-to-digital connection lets you transfer large amounts of A/V information at high-speed with no loss in quality. Digital-in function makes it possible to edit in clips from other digital footage, directly on the camera.

Long Play Recording: Long, play record mode allows you to switch between extended recording time and increased use of recording space for greater quality. In long play mode the record/playback time of a 8mm cassette is extended up to 4 hours.

Super Night Shot (0 Lux): A built-in, infrared system that lets you capture video from a up to 10 feet away, even in total darkness (0 Lux). Super Night Shot also allows you to employ one of two Slow Shutter speeds (1/15 or Ľ) to increases picture brightness, contrast and quality.

USB Terminal: USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a computer industry standard that is designed to simplify interconnection between digital equipment such as A/V devices and computers. It makes quality, higher-volume data transfer possible between your camcorder and PC, printer or other equipped devise via a simple, one cable (supplied) connection.

Analog In/Out: Increasing your creative possibilities, analogue in/out makes it possible to connect your camcorder to a range of analogue devices.
